Simplified Chinese Characters. This is a story about patience. A master monk gives each of his students, Ben, Jing and An, a valuable ancient lotus seed and tells them to grow it. The young monks had very different approaches of how to best grow the lotus seed which provide an interesting insight into their individual characters. Ben, who wanted to be the first to grow the plant, runs off to bury his seed in the snow covered ground. Jing chooses the best flowerpot and soil but then covers the seedling with golden lid once it began to sprout. An, on the hand went on with his daily chores as usual and waited patiently for Spring before planting his seedling. It introduces simple sentences in Mandarin Chinese which will help children and beginners new to the language to learn to read.
